Clemson Mathematics Placement Test (CMPT) Update

The CMPT is required of each new student (freshmen and transfer) entering Clemson University even if the student has math credit through Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate or work taken at another college or university. The CMPT is used for assessment and for placement.

The CMPT is accessible to accepted students beginning on May 1.

The CMPT must be taken prior to the student attending summer orientation. Lack of a CMPT score may result in placement at a lower level than the math sciences course required by the student's major.

The CMPT may now be taken up to 4 times.

A student is required to submit documentation of course credit earned for all math course prerequisites. Lack of documentation will result in the student being dropped from math.

Further information about the CMPT, including contact information for additional questions, is at the CMPT website, http://mthsc.clemson.edu/cmpt/
