Executive Secretary to the Board of Trustees and Executive Director for Governmental Affairs

The Executive Secretary to the Board of Trustees serves the University at the executive office level commensurate with that of the Vice Presidents of the institution and is a member of the Administrative Council, holding office at the pleasure of the Board. The Executive Secretary shall record all proceedings of the Board, be the custodian of the University seal and all records of the Board and perform such other duties as may be assigned.

The Executive Director of Governmental Affairs has primary responsibility for the University's government-related activities, ensuring that appropriate strategies are identified and implemented to address the University's needs and priorities. The Executive Director supervises all matters involving state and federal governmental affairs, including oversight of Clemson's Governmental Affairs offices and staff. General duties include:

  • cultivating positive relationships with governmental officials, staff and constituencies;
  • monitoring, identifying, tracking and facilitating legislation affecting the University; and
  • ensuring excellent communication with all segments of the University in order to facilitate information exchanges.
