Another academic year is upon us, and I want to extend a big welcome to all of our newest Clemson family members. I know the fall season is a busy one with classes and new surroundings, but I have one thing that I’m sure will excite you. I’m hoping you can help us beat our in-state rivals, the University of South Carolina, with a new challenge.
Clemson Counts, part of Civic Engagement, is hosting a service-hour competition to log more hours than U.S.C. As you become involved in the community with your philanthropy efforts, I encourage you to log your hours in Clemson Counts. Our mission is simple: log at least 11 hours per student over the course of this year, and we will average more service hours than U.S.C. did last year. Help us meet our goal of 200,000 hours!
I know most of you probably already do the service; we just need to know about the hours. Clemson Counts will help us truly recognize your efforts. The Division of Student Affairs believes each of us has the potential to positively impact the world and together we can create change.
I encourage each of you to take part in this endeavor and show the service you’ve given to our University. Check the Clemson Counts website at clemson.edu/clemsoncounts for progress as well as our Student Affairs Facebook page: www.facebook.com/clemsonstudentaffairs.
Have a great semester and go Tigers!
