10 Year Anniversary Celebration

Clemson University’s Master of Real Estate Development (MRED) program celebrated its 10 year anniversary on Saturday, April 12, 2014, at the ONE Building in Greenville, S.C. The milestone coincided with the program’s early spring move to the ONE Building, its new permanent location in downtown Greenville.

The celebration gala joined together alumni, current students, faculty and staff, as well as members of the Advancement Board for Real Estate Development and other real estate industry leaders, to recognize the program’s achievements over the past decade. During the program, a special presentation was made to the program’s founding director, Dr. J. Terrence “Terry” Farris.

MRED alumni and supporters established an award, the Dr. J. Terrence “Terry” Farris Annual Award, to recognize Dr. Farris and his contributions to Clemson University, the program and the real estate profession. The award will be provided annually to a second year student who has demonstrated a strong interest in public/private partnerships and exhibits a strong sense of community. To date, more than $14,000 has been raised for the award.

Over 12 years ago, Dr. Farris approached the College of Architecture, Arts, and Humanities with a vision to create a program to educate real estate graduate students to become professional leaders and innovators with a commitment to responsible, sustainable development and value enhancement. This vision translated into a reality, fostering one of the premier real estate development programs in the country.
“No person has put as much heart and soul into the MRED program than its founder, and the program is honored to present Dr. Farris with a legacy through a new MRED student award in his name,” said Robert Benedict, MRED program director. “The 10 year anniversary celebration was a great time to recognize Dr. Farris’ commitment to the program over the past decade, while reunite with alumni and supporters of the program.”

The Clemson University Master of Real Estate Development Program would like to thank its generous sponsors of the 10 Year MRED Anniversary Celebration.
