ULI Denver All MRED students visited Denver, Colorado to attend the Annual Fall Meeting of the Urban Land Institute, October 15-18, 2012. The week long trip provided students an opportunity to hear from Chris Frampton, with East-West Partners, on Denver projects like Riverfront and Union Station. MRED students were also hosted at al Lado, in downtown Denver after the city tour. The first tour stop on day two was at TAXI, with a presentation by Mickey Zeppelin, the developer of Taxi where students learned insights into the sustainable mixed-use community. While touring TAXI, MRED students had the opportunity to meet with one of the lead architects of 4240 Architects Inc, the architecture firm designing the ONE building in downtown Greenville, the future home of the MRED Program. Tour hosts of downtown Denver also included MRED '10 graduate Steve Trythall of the Sessions Group, LLC. Tom Gleason, with Forest City Stapleton, Inc., provided an introduction and tour of the large scale master planned new urbanist community. The Tuesday city tour concluded with a drive through of local Denver neighborhoods, Lowery and Cherry Creek. On Tuesday evening, MRED students attended a Real Estate Program Mixer with other universities such as: Arizona State, University of Maryland, University of Denver, Portland State University, University of Florida, and others. At the ULI Sessions, students attended a variety of real estate development workshops, as well as sessions on current industry market trends.
