One of only a few University campus fire departments in the United States, Fire and Emergency Medical Services currently maintains an ISO class 4 fire protection rating while responding to over 500 requests for service throughout campus and the City of Clemson. Fire suppression response includes not only tactical firefighting by state certified and nationally accredited firefighters, but also includes an aggressive property conservation and customer support program to reduce the impact and dollar loss of a fire. Clemson University utilizes not only full time employees but undergraduate students, and community volunteers as well to fulfill the Fire and Emergency Medical Services mission objectives.
Fire & EMS participates in the South Carolina and National Fire Incident Reporting System providing real time response data on the nature and causes of fire, civilian and service deaths, and property loss from fires.
Every day Americans experience the horror of fire at work, home, school, and at play. But most people don't understand fire. Only when we know the true nature of fire can we prepare ourselves and our families. Each year more than 4,000 Americans die and more than 25,000 are injured in fires, many of which could be prevented.
