Redfern operates on an appointment-based system. Many medical appointments can be scheduled for the same day. Appointments for annual gynecological exams, physical exams and allergy injections should be made in advance. Log into MyHealth-e to Web book an appointment for an allergy injection (if currently receiving allergy injections from allergist and completed initial visit with Redfern MD) or an immunization (e.g. vaccine or TB testing). If you require specialized paperwork, please complete your portion and bring the paperwork with you to your appointment. To receive automated text message appointment reminders from Redfern on your cell phone, select MyHealth-e, update your profile by entering your mobile phone number and carrier. 

Nurse Triage

Patients with urgent problems may walk in. The appointment specialist will send you to nurse triage to be assessed by a registered nurse. Urgent problems might be referred to a doctor or nurse practitioner.

CAPS Walk-in Clinic

For an initial CAPS visit, students are seen on a first-come, first-served basis in the walk-in clinic, Monday-Friday, 10 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. Students complete basic forms and meet with a counselor to receive an individual assessment with personalized recommendations. The total process may take one to one-and-a-half hours. If students cannot come during walk-in hours, they may call 864-656-2451.

CAPS Appointments

Following the initial CU Now session, subsequent appointments are scheduled to match the student’s needs with counselor’s availability. This process may require a few weeks for the client to be scheduled for the first appointment. Individual and couple appointments are 50 minutes long. Group sessions are 90 minutes.

Missed Appointments or Late Arrivals

Patients/clients who cannot keep an appointment should cancel or reschedule as soon as possible. This allows Student Health Services to offer another patient/client your appointment time. If you arrive more than 10 minutes late for your appointment, you may be asked to reschedule. Student Health Services also charges a no-show and late-cancellation fee for individual counseling visits, psychiatric visits, physical exams and allergy injections. Charges vary by visit type.
