The Leadership Certificate Program is a series of three courses that introduces you to leadership knowledge, skills and values; and addresses the complexity of the leadership process. This nine-credit hour Leadership Certificate is interdisciplinary, multidimensional and experiential. Award of certificate is acknowledged on recipient's academic transcript.
HEHD4000 Introduction to Leadership Theory and Concepts (3)
Leadership Theory and Concepts is designed to introduce and inspire students to engage in the process of leadership learning. Students will learn and dialogue about leadership theory and come to understand their unique role in leadership on campus, in their academic discipline and within our larger community.
HEHD4100 Leadership Behavior & Civic Engagement (3)
Leadership Behavior & Civic Engagement is designed to introduce students to the critical role of leadership learning in groups and communities. This course partners classroom learning with community service.
HEHD4200 Leadership Application & Experience (3)
Leadership Application & Experience is designed to expose students to the complexity of the leadership process by considering advanced leadership theories. Students will also be immersed in practical experience to utilize leadership learning as well as leadership knowledge, skills and values.
Any student from any major is encouraged to register and complete the Leadership Certificate. Because the courses are sequential, students should register for the three courses in order and ideally complete the Certificate over the course of three separate semesters. The Leadership Certificate is a partnership between the Clemson University Division of Student Affairs and the College of Health, Education & Human Development. Additional information about this program can be found on the HEHD website.
