The Institute for Parks brings together a group of scientists and researchers with expertise in natural, social and behavioral sciences, history, communications, information technology, administration, jurisprudence, philosophy and ethics. Because parks are a complex web of natural, cultural, historical and recreational resources, they require the attention of scholars from a variety of disciplines.
Scientists at Clemson University who have been designated as Institute for Parks Fellows conduct research, either individually or with teams, in areas important to park managers. In addition, researchers from other universities who have long histories of working in park science, have been designated Institute for Parks Scholars. This community of park scholars will continue to grow, expanding an already impressive body of knowledge, as other scientists are invited to join the community. The Institute currently consists of 18 Fellows and 5 Scholars working on park-related research.
