Welcome to the Charles H. Houston Center

The Charles H. Houston Center for the Study of the Black Experience in Education, established in 1988, is the only research center housed at one of the nation's top research universities that conducts empirical research, disseminates scholarly information, examines research-based best practices, and addresses critical issues impacting African Americans at all levels of the educational system.

The Charles H. Houston Center strives to conduct research that makes a difference, implement academic outreach programs and professional development programs, and inform educational policies and practices affecting the Black experience in education.
