FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act)
Although we consider parents to be partners in the educational process, we are limited by law in we can and cannot discuss with you. At orientation your student was given our FERPA form and asked to indicate if our advisors and GE faculty were allowed to discuss certain information. Students retained one copy and we placed our copy in the student’s file. When you call the first thing we do is to check the file for the student’s signature. We abide by the student’s wishes according to the form we have on record. Remember, that students may come in to our office at any time and ask to change the form.
