IBM awards Dennis Lingerfelt Ph.D. Fellowship

CLEMSON – On March 2, IBM announced that Dennis Lingerfelt, a Ph.D. student in the School
of Computing, will receive one of the 2012-2013 International Business Machines
Corporation Ph.D. Fellowship awards.  In a letter to Mr. Lingerfelt's advisor,
Prof. Robert Geist, IBM Program Executive Jeff Brody wrote, "This award is highly
competitive and recognizes your student as well as the quality of your
institution."  The award includes a $20,000 stipend and a $10,000 educational
allowance.

Research will focus on virtualization of peripheral devices, in particular,
graphical processing units (GPUs), for applications in cloud computing.
