Faculty Overview

Dr. Darnault’s teaching and research interests are in the fields of biological and environmental engineering, agricultural engineering, hydrological sciences, and water resources engineering. His research focuses on (1) the hydrologic, geochemical, and microbiological processes at any range of scales (micro to global) that impact water quality and quantity in order to protect ecosystems and the public health; (2) the flow and transport phenomena in complex surface and subsurface environments; (3) the development and application of novel methods/tools to monitor biological/ environmental systems and processes; (4) the optimization of biological water treatment processes; (5) the impacts of the hydrological cycle/climate on infrastructure and natural systems to mitigate potential risk(s); and (6) the sustainable management of soil and water resources.
