Faculty Overview
Dr. Shuller-Nickles’ research and teaching interests are in the fields of environmental mineralogy, actinide chemistry, geochemistry, and computational materials science. She integrates computational and experimental techniques to evaluate the stability of nuclear materials and waste streams throughout the nuclear fuel cycle. For example, one initiative focuses on understanding the immobilization of radionuclides in the environment via sorption onto mineral surfaces, incorporation into rock-forming or uranyl minerals, or precipitation as solid phases.
