The Honors Living-Learning Community
Chris Grau Chris Grau, former Honors LLC Faculty-in-Residence, and his dog Emma meet with some Honors residents in the courtyard.
A mix of freshman through senior Honors students live in the nationally recognized Honors Living-Learning Community, home to the Honors Academic Activities Center.
The Honors LLC is centrally located on campus across from the historic Calhoun Mansion, and a one-minute walk from Clemson Memorial Stadium. It is a coeducational facility that accommodates approximately 280 students. The living quarters are fully carpeted and are arranged in two-room suites with adjoining baths. Holmes has its own laundry facilities, two kitchens, two study rooms. Holmes Quote 2
Entering Honors freshmen will receive housing information from the University Housing office in late spring after admission. Room assignments in the Honors LLC are made in July and are based on the date of application for general undergraduate admission to Clemson University. Please note that due to space limitations, not all newly admitted Honors students are guaranteed a spot in this LLC.
Holmes Quote3 For continuing students as well as entering freshmen who desire Honors housing, roommate and suitemates requests may be granted but only if all occupants of a room are members in good standing of the Honors College and space is available. Transfer students and Clemson students who join Calhoun Honors College after the first semester of their freshman year may have to participate academically in the program for at least one semester before becoming eligible for Honors housing.
Honors students whose cumulative GPR falls below 3.40 and are placed on Honors probation may remain in Holmes for the remainder of the probationary semester. If at the end of the probationary semester, whether fall or spring, the cumulative GPR remains below 3.40, the student will lose all privileges of membership in the program, including Honors housing and access to the Honors Center. Freshmen residents of the Honors LLC whose first semester GPR is below 2.80 may be reassigned to other campus housing effective the next semester. Honors LLC residents who choose not to continue in the Honors College may be reassigned to other campus Housing the semester after they terminate their Honors membership; non-Honors residents of Holmes do not have access to the Honors Center or its resources.
