When cases, outbreaks or events of public health importance impact the Clemson University community, the university works under the direction of the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control to ensure the health and safety of students, faculty and staff.
Certain infectious diseases that may pose a threat to the public health are reported to DHEC by medical professionals. DHEC epidemiologists evaluate every report and determine if further actions are needed to avoid or control spread of the disease.
Any concerns or questions about infectious disease in the Clemson University community should be directed to Dr. George W. Clay, Executive Director of Student Health Services.
