Clemson University, recognizing the dignity, value, and contributions of all faculty and staff, provides the Employee Assistance Program to ensure administrative support for any employee experiencing personal difficulties that may result in personal stress or problems that could impact job performance. The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is provided through an outside resource, Deer Oaks EAP. This is a free program available to Clemson University faculty and staff and their dependents/household members and provides a variety of health and wellness, counseling, referral, and consultation services. These programs are all designed to assist you and your family with work/life issues in order to live happier, healthier, more balanced lives. Webinars and other events are scheduled throughout the year on topics to assist with personal and professional growth. These resources are completely confidential and there is no cost for most services. These programs are completely confidential and can be easily accessed by calling the toll-free Helpline.

Short-term Counseling
Deer Oaks provides 5 counseling sessions (face-to-face or telephonic) per individual, per issue, per year at no cost.

Counseling needs include, but are not limited to:

  • Marital and Family Relationships
  • Interpersonal Relationships

  • Access to Legal/Financial Tools
  • Free 30-minute initial visit with an in-plan attorney
  • 25% reduction in hourly fees for subsequent visits with the same plan attorney
  • Free unlimited telephonic counseling with financial planners
  • Free simple will through the Deer Oaks website
  • Identity theft issues
  • Financial and Legal Assistance Newsletter
  • Essential Documents for Everyone

Confidentiality
All EAP benefits are as confidential as the law allows. Clemson University does not request information regarding services used by employees.  Clemson University’s EAP provider, Deer Oaks, EAP, does submit statistical reports to the University, but no names or identifying information are ever included in these reports.
