On the Board — Current Projects

The sustainability projects listed below are in various stages of completion.  After a project is completed, full details will be provided within the LEED Projects section.  If you'd like more information about a specific project, feel free to contact the University Planning and Design Office.

Core Campus Precinct
LEED Certification Target: Silver | Estimated Date of Completion: 2013

This is a mixed-use facility that includes a residential component, dining facility, academic space and the student post office. It will condense the existing residence hall project and the dining hall/post office project into a single state project in order to achieve a much higher level of interconnectedness and synergy between spaces.

CURIGEC - CU Research Institute Graduate Education Center curigec

LEED Certification Target: Silver | Estimated Date of Completion: 2013

This state-of-the-art research institute and education center facility will be housed in a 82,000 sq. ft. brick veneer on concrete block structure originally built as Marine barracks in 1964.  Located on the old Navy Base in North Charleston, the renovation will include improvements to the exterior appearance and to the structure itself for the CU-RIGEC and Charleston Naval Complex Redevelopment Authority. The institute will be uniquely designed to foster collaboration, engagement, partnership and innovation between the aeronautic, automotive, composites technology and energy industries.  With Clemson's record of fostering public-private partnerships — as demonstrated by the successful CU-ICAR model —the CU-RIGEC will be at the forefront of a developing industry.

Douthit Hills
LEED Certification Target: Silver | Estimated Date of Completion: Fall 2015 douhit hils

As a new construction mixed use residential village, Douthit Hills will build a sense of vibrancy on campus and propel the university toward the goal of a becoming a Top 20 institution. Located on the north side of Old Greenville Hwy. in Clemson, the project will create environmentally sustainable residential neighborhoods and approximately 50,000 sq. ft. of new retail space.  Additionally, the project's objectives are to create a pedestrian friendly campus gateway to the core of campus that is sensitive to the adjacent neighborhood and town and to maintain as much existing green space as possible.

Project One/Greenville One green one

LEED Certification Target: Silver | Estimated Date of Completion: Fall 2013

This project will upfit shell space on four floors of the Project One building currently under construction at Main and Washington Streets in downtown Greenville, SC.  The building will be designed to meet the programmatic needs of advanced degree programs, like the CBBS MBA Program, and is ideally located for involvement with private industry partners and the local business community. Project One/Greenville One represents the University's commitment to becoming an integral part of the vital economy of the City of Greenville as well as the community as a whole.

Littlejohn Coliseum Annex Addition 


LEED Certification Target: Silver | Estimated Date of Completion: Fall 2015

The coliseum project will provide quality practice facilities for the men’s and women’s basketball teams with two additional practice gyms and offices.
