The primary function of the Office of Governmental Affairs is to serve as a liaison with all levels of government on behalf of Clemson University. Staff operations are focused primarily on four areas: the South Carolina General Assembly, the United States Congress, state and federal agencies, and the management of a volunteer legislative advocacy group. The Governmental Affairs Office monitors all state and federal legislation to identify issues that may affect Clemson University. In addition, the office works with state and federal legislators and agencies to introduce legislation or regulations that would enhance the missions and operations of the University. The office enlists alumni and friends throughout the state to serve as advocates for the University with the South Carolina General Assembly and the United States Congress on matters that impact the University.
