Prospective Freshmen

You may visit the University's Undergraduate Admissions site for more information.

Nursing Freshman Admission Overview

The Nursing Program at Clemson University is targeting an enrolled freshmen class of approximately 65 students each fall. With limited space, Nursing is often one of the most competitive majors for entry at Clemson University. Acceptance letters are extended to more than our targeted number of students, knowing that not all students who are accepted will attend Clemson University.  For those students who are admitted as Freshmen, there is no re-application process for progression to the upper level nursing courses.

Generally, Admissions considers three criteria:

  • 1) High School class rank
  • 2) High School GPA
  • 3) SAT or ACT scores
For specific information regarding admission criteria, please call Clemson University Admissions at (864) 656-2287 or visit the website at Admissions.

To arrange a visit to the School of Nursing

Tour options for prospective students:  School of Nursing group tours are available the following dates:

December 5 (Friday, 3:00-4:30 pm)

January 9, 2015 (Friday, 3-4:30 pm)

February 6, 2015 (Friday, 3-4:30 pm)

Note that there will also be a full day visitation day for seniors accepted to join the School of Nursing fall 2015 freshmen class in late March/early April.  Invitations will be sent after February 15, 2015 to all accepted students.  Accepted Nursing freshmen may also email Kristin Goodenow at kristig@clemson.edu for that date after February 15, 2015.

If you are unable to visit on a designated visitation day, note that we have Clemson Student Nursing Ambassadors available for tours Monday-Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm as schedules permits.  Tours are not given on University holidays or weekends.  It is required that at least two weeks advance request is made to kristig@clemson.edu to include your itinerary for your visit with specific times you would be available to meet with a nursing ambassador during your visit.

Space is limited and advanced reservation is required.

Prospective students should e-mail the contact below and include the following:

  1. Student first and last name
  2. Intended date of tour and time (if applicable)
  3. Number of people in group
  4. High school and current class standing (freshmen, sophomore, junior or senior).
  5. E-mail and telephone contact information.

Once reservation is confirmed, a location will be sent to all registered attendees.  Tours include an overview of the Nursing curriculum and a tour of the Nursing facilities.  If cancellation becomes necessary, we ask that you cancel your space to allow another prospective student and their family to attend as soon as is possible.  Those who register and do not show up for the tour will not be allowed to re-register for a later tour date.  Observation of classes in session is not permitted.

Tour options after February 15 (typical end of the admission cycle for Nursing majors):  Students accepted into the Nursing program (high school seniors) will be invited to a full visitation day in late March/early April hosted by the Clemson University Student Nurses Association (CU-SNA).  Invitations will be mailed to students.

The Class of 1944 Visitors Center will have designated periods in the spring of each year where personnel from the College will be available to answer questions about the program.  This will be a primary point of contact for high school freshmen, sophomore, and juniors.
