Nursing Freshman Admission Overview
The Nursing Program at Clemson University is targeting an enrolled freshmen class of approximately 65 students each fall. With limited space, Nursing is often one of the most competitive majors for entry at Clemson University. Acceptance letters are extended to more than our targeted number of students, knowing that not all students who are accepted will attend Clemson University. For those students who are admitted as Freshmen, there is no re-application process for progression to the upper level nursing courses.
Generally, Admissions considers three criteria:
Campus Visitation information
Clemson University provides general campus tours through the Class of 1944 Visitor's Center. To arrange a visit go to http://workgroups.clemson.edu/DCIT2803_CAMPUS_TOURS/registration.php
Parking information can be found at http://www.clemson.edu/campus-life/campus-services/parking/visitors.html
Campus map is located at http://www.clemson.edu/campus-life/campus-services/parking/drivingdirections.html
To arrange a visit to the School of Nursing
Tour options for prospective students who are not graduating seniors: School of Nursing group tours are available in the spring only during the Spring Blitz visitation days: April 1, 2, 3, 8, 9, and 10 at 3:00 pm. Note that each day’s tour is the same content.
Space is limited and advanced reservation is required.
Prospective students should e-mail the contact below and include the following:
1 Student first and last name
2 Intended date of tour
3 Total number of people in group attending the tour (groups of more than five cannot be accommodated).
4 High school and current class standing (freshmen, sophomore, or junior).
5 E-mail and telephone contact information.
Once reservation is confirmed, a location will be sent to all registered attendees. Tours include an overview of the Nursing curriculum and a tour of the Nursing facilities. If cancellation becomes necessary, we ask that you cancel your space to allow another prospective student and their family to attend as soon as is possible. Those who register and do not show up for the tour will not be allowed to re-register for a later tour date. Observation of classes in session is not permitted.
Note that there will also be a full day visitation day for seniors accepted to the School of Nursing fall 2015 freshmen class in March. Invitations have been sent to all accepted students. Accepted Nursing freshmen may also email Kristin Goodenow at email@example.com for that date after February 15, 2015.
If you are a senior that has been accepted to Clemson for fall 2015 but not in Nursing, there will be change of major information sessions during the Spring Blitz days (April 1-3 and 8-10) each day at 10:00 am. Advanced reservation will NOT be required to attend the information session.
If you are unable to visit on a designated visitation day, note that we have the possibility of a Clemson Student Nursing Ambassador tour. Due to the limited availability with our ambassador’s class schedule, please try to reserve these tour requests for prospective students who travel a great distance and are more limited with visitation options. Every effort should be made to schedule during one of the pre-arranged tours listed above. The Ambassadors are available for tours Monday-Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm as their schedules permits. Tours are not given on University holidays, during Clemson’s designated summer sessions, exam weeks, or weekends. Ambassador tours will NOT be available during the Spring Blitz weeks (March 30-April 10) as students are encouraged to attend Spring Blitz event days. It is required that at least two weeks advance request is made to firstname.lastname@example.org to include your itinerary for your visit with specific times you would be available to meet with a nursing ambassador during your visit along with the student first and last name, total number of people in the party, high school and current class standing, email and telephone contact for the day of the visit.
Visits scheduled April 24-July 31: will have to be scheduled with the Nursing advisor, Kristin Goodenow. Tours will be given only as the advisor’s schedule permits. Faculty and students are not available for tours during the summer semester as they are not required to be on campus. It is recommended that tour requests are 10 business days prior to your visit. Please provide the following information regarding your visit:
1 Student first and last name
2 Intended date of tour
3 Total number of people in group attending the tour
4 High school and current class standing for the 2015-2016 school year (freshmen, sophomore, junior, or senior)
5 E-mail and telephone contact information
