The Playground Maintenance program increases safety and decreases liability. The Playground Maintenance program is a two-day program with approximately 15 hours of instruction. The multimedia training program is delivered through print resources, presentations, and hands-on training. Material covered by the program includes:

  • Overview of playground safety
  • Playground liability
  • The Playground Maintenance Diamond of Care
  • Loose-fill and unitary surfacing
  • Concrete footers and play equipment
  • Wood structures on playgrounds
  • Plastic degradation on the playground
  • Metal corrosion on the playground
  • Fasteners, connectors and connecting fasteners
  • Playground inspections
  • Record keeping and documentation
  • Taking equipment out of service

At the conclusion of the program, participants will receive a Certificate of Completion which serves as evidence of their newly acquired skill and knowledge.
