Paralympics Service for PRTM Students

Our first bit of Olympic Gear.

Vancouver Paralympic Experience - Facebook excerpts from Anna Henderson

The Paralympic Winter Games in Vancouver, Canada are now over and Dr. Skye Arthur-Banning, and the 15 students he took to these Games are now back in Clemson. The students left on March 8, 2010 and were involved in the Opening Ceremonies and assisted with hosting events such as sledge hockey, wheelchair curling and Nordic skiing. The students also visited Whistler/ Blackcomb which is regularly rated the # 1 ski resort in North America.

What an experience they shared and the strong bonds they formed during their two weeks in Vancouver will not soon be forgotten. Arthur-Banning, (who himself, was a volunteer at the Vancouver Winter Olympics just 2 weeks before), commented in an email, "things are going well...this was really our last night together before things get started. It becomes really busy from here. We all went out to dinner and I think the students are really excited to be involved and I think the neatest thing is they are all coming together really well and looking out for one another, and to me, perhaps that is the most important thing on the trip."

Thanks to Anna Henderson who did such a wonderful job of keeping us up to date on her Paralympics experience through her Facebook page. One of Anna's closing comments was, "One thing is for sure though: I will remember the people that I met on this trip for my whole life. Each person that I met and formed a bond with while I have been here has made SO much more of an impact on the rest of my life than any of them could possibly imagine. Vancouver 2010, you were AWESOME!" http://annamichellehenderson.blogspot.com/
