Cowley's EMS Education receives high praise.
The Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the EMS Profession recently conducted a site visit at Cowley College’s Allied Health Center in Winfield. The committee is recommending continued full accreditation without any progress reports for Cowley’s EMS Education. read more...

Cowley receives grant to expand MICT training

Cowley College’s Allied Health Department was notified that it’s MICT program got a Perkins Reserve Fund Grant from the Kansas Board of Regents for $65,800 to be used to expand MICT training at Butler Community College.

MICT program in Andover
With the demand for Mobile Intensive Care Technicians continuing to grow, Cowley College partnered with Butler Community College to offer an 18-month MICT class in Andover.
The first three semesters will be spent in the classroom where students meet two times a week. During the spring semester, students will complete the clinical portion of the program. Field internship will also be conducted in the spring semester and will conclude in June. The last three weeks of the class will be spent in the classroom preparing for the National Registry examination.

Over 120 people gathered on Thursday, Jan. 19 to celebrate the graduation of 15 students from Cowley College’s Mobile Intensive Care Technician (paramedic) program in the Earle N. Wright Community Room at the school’s main campus in Arkansas City. The program that finished on December 15 completed the AAS degree requirements for these graduates.  read more

Students interested in a medical career had an opportunity to take part in Medical Careers Day held Wednesday at Cowley College’s main campus in Arkansas City. A record turnout of 75 students took part in the event, which is now in its fourth year of existence. read more

Individuals interested in the nursing and allied health professions took part in Tuesday’s Open House held at Cowley College’s Allied Health Center in Winfield.

Cowley hosts another successful Medical Careers Day
Medical Careers Day
With Cowley College’s Medical Careers Day continuing to double in size each of the first three years of the event, 66 students took part in the day’s activities held Wednesday on the college’s main campus in Arkansas City.
There were Career Fair booths set up displaying information about specific programs for the students to view, as well as transfer information regarding four-year institutions.
Participants had an opportunity to visit with representatives from South Central Regional Medical Center, William Newton Memorial Hospital, Ark City Fire-EMS Department, Ark City Emergency Medical Services, Winfield Emergency Medical Services, Butler county Emergency Medical Services, Life-Team, Hospice of Kansas, Pratt/Cowley LPN-RN, Andrea Winters CRNA Anesthesia Consulting Services, and Heather Allen (transfer information). read more

Summer EMT 2010
Cowley College summer EMT (Emergency Medical Technician)-Basic students Amanda Vandyke, Britt Hazen, Cody Doane, and Jacob Perryman practice their spinal immobilization and fracture management skills on fellow student Brant Calvin. The summer EMT class runs from June 1 to July 31, and is comprised of classroom, skills lab, online, and field internship sessions. read more

Fifteen individuals recently completed the Cowley MICT Program, becoming the first cohort to complete the Andover program held through a partnership with Butler College.
