junior volleyball tryouts
Volleyball club tryouts to take place Nov. 9
Cowley College junior club volleyball tryouts will be held Nov. 9 at the Arkansas City High School.
Tryouts for those age 12-14 will take place from 1-3 p.m., while those age 15-18 will tryout from 3:30-5:30 p.m. There is a $10 tryout fee.

Social Science Department to host day of exploration and education
Social Science Day On Thursday, November 20, the Social Science Department at Cowley College will present Social Science & Education Day. This event will give area high school students the opportunity to explore the many majors and programs the department offers.
Cowley’s Social Science Department provides students with a wide range of courses and majors in many diverse fields. Social Science & Education day will allow students to explore anthropology, childhood development, education, psychology, service learning, and sociology. Attendees will participate in hands-on activities and informational sessions, interact with Social Science faculty, and discover career opportunities in these fields. read more
Tiger tennis team edges Falcons
The Cowley College men’s tennis team traveled to Wichita to take on the Friends University Falcons at Riverside Park this past Wednesday. The Tigers were able to come away with a hard fought victory 5-4 to improve to 5-1 so far this fall in dual matches. read more

Concert Choir and Concert Band to perform Landscape of American Music
Each one of the songs that will be performed by the Cowley College Concert Choir and Concert Band at their concert on Tuesday, Oct. 21 will tie into their theme of Landscape of American Music. The concert will begin at 7 p.m. and is free to attend. read more
Board hears marketing presentation
Sarah Bryant, director for marketing at Cowley College, presented the Board of Trustees with a marketing update during the college’s Board of Trustees meeting held Monday in the McAtee Dining Center.
She shared her long term goals for the marketing of the college and discussed current advertising as well as sponsorships and partnerships with area businesses and Chambers of Commerce. read more

Cowley serves as corporate sponsor for Winfield High School football game
tanks leads the EMS group Cowley College representatives were on hand for Winfield High School’s home football game vs. Augusta this past Friday as part of the college’s corporate sponsorship with the high school.
As part of the sponsorship, there was a Cowley College Emergency Medical Education station setup outside the south gate. Children had an opportunity to tour an ambulance provided by Winfield EMS and get a free sticker and wrist band. Cowley College Emergency Medical Education also conducted several free blood pressure checks for adults. read more
Theatre Department busy preparing for Little Shop of Horrors

With the Cowley College Theatre Department preparing to perform Little Shop of Horrors at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 30-Nov. 1 inside the Robert Brown Theatre, the cast and crew of the production are busy with rehearsals.
Pictured at a recent rehearsal are Andrew Horning as Seymour, and the plant (Audrey II), which is operated by Alex Behrens. Radio personality Marty “O” will serve as the voice for Audrey II.
The cost to attend the performance is $10 for adults, and $8 for students and Blue Star Military families. A dinner and show combo for the Saturday, Nov. 1 performance is being offered for $22. Reservations for the dinner and show combo are due by Wednesday, Oct. 29.

Math and Science Club presents the Cowley Propeller Car Contest
Cowley students will design, build and race a battery powered propeller car capable of traveling a 20 meter parallel track in the shortest amount of time. The race will be held November 4, at 4:00 pm in GJ304. Cash prizes will be awarded for first, second, and third place.
