Poynter named KJCCC Defensive Player of the Week
Cowley College sophomore libero McKenna Poynter proved herself defensively this past week, averaging 8 digs per set against a NJCAA Division 1 opponent, Seminole State, and a tough conference opponent in Coffeyville. In doing so, Poynter was named the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Volleyball Division II Defensive Player of the Week. read more
Lady Tigers win fourth in a row
Taking care of business. The No. 12-ranked Cowley College women’s volleyball team made quick work of its home match against Longview Community College Monday night as they defeated the Lakers 25-13, 25-13, 25-19 to run their home-court winning streak to 63 matches in a row. read more
Sandra Urrutia named NJCAA Division I Goalie of the Week
Fresh off being named the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Goalie of the Week, Cowley College freshman Sandra Urrutia was selected as the NJCAA Division I Goalie of the Week after lifting the Cowley College women’s soccer team to a 2-0 win over Garden City on Sept. 6. read more

Coming to Cowley College from Cedar Vale High School, Michael Meloy was a quiet kid that was unsure of what he wanted to do. Now, more than a year into his time at the school, Meloy has immersed himself in campus activities and is well known and liked by many. read more
Track Attack wins Ultimate Frisbee Intramurals
Members from the Cowley Track Team (Track Attack) faced off with members of the Cowley Softball Team (Tiger Softball) in the championship for the Ultimate Frisbee Intramurals on Sept. 11. The Track Team came out victorious with an 8-1 win. Be on the look-out for upcoming Intramural Events! Co-ed Volleyball signups start Monday, September 15th.

Each year, as part of the annual Arkalalah festival, five (5) sophomore women from Cowley College are chosen as candidates for the title of Queen Alalah. Scottish immigrants in Kansas will be featured on September 18
Join Cowley Anthropology majors, students, and members of the community as the Cowley Public Archaeology & History group meets on September 18 at 7:00 pm in Room 102 of the Webb-Brown building at Cowley College.
This avocational group takes a broad approach to the subjects of local history and archaeology.
September’s meeting will feature a presentation on Scottish immigrants in Kansas. The event is free and open to the public, and light refreshments will be served.
Long time employees to retire from the college
A pair of long-time employees of Cowley College submitted letters of retirement during the college’s Board of Trustees meeting held Monday in the McAtee Dining Center. read more
Pancake Day is September 17 at the Mulvane Center
Mulvane will be hosting their annual pancake day on September 17th from 9:00am to 12:00pm. Pancake Day is a fund raiser for Big Brothers and Big Sisters. The pancakes are free; donations are appreciated. Stop by and get some breakfast!
Tiger soccer team earns huge road win at Johnson County
What a way to open conference play! Traveling to take on a Johnson County squad, which was ranked No. 20 in the preseason poll, the Cowley College men’s soccer team dominated its conference opener with a 4-1 win Friday in Overland Park. Cowley will attempt to make it three wins in a row when they host Dodge City Wednesday at 7 p.m. read more
Lady Tiger tennis splits a pair of matches at Seminole State Quad
After having Friday’s match against Oklahoma Baptist rained out, the Lady Tigers came back to play Seminole State and NCAA Division II Southeastern Oklahoma State University on Saturday.
Cowley won two of three doubles matches and three of six singles matches in slipping past Seminole State 5-4. The Lady Tigers will return to action Friday and Saturday when they take part in the Oklahoma City Collegiate Open. Play will begin each day at 9 a.m. read more
Tiger men’s tennis team has solid weekend
The Cowley College Tiger men’s tennis team traveled to Shawnee, Oklahoma this past weekend for the Oklahoma Baptist Quad. The weekend showed great promise and potential as the Tiger’s defeated Seminole State and lost a close match to Southeastern Oklahoma University. read more

Playing against a more experienced squad in Johnson County Friday in Overland Park, the Cowley College women’s soccer team was overmatched in the 10-0 defeat.

Tiger cross country teams off and running
The Cowley College men and women’s cross country teams opened the 2014 season by competing at the 66th annual Wichita State University J.K. Gold Classic at the R.A.F.T. Golf Course near Augusta Saturday morning. With only one sophomore on the roster, the Lady Tigers placed sixth out of 10 teams, while the Tiger men finished ninth. read more
