Cowley groups raising funds leading up to Valentine's Day

Two Cowley County Community College student organizations are taking advantage of the traditions of Valentine's Day to raise funds for their respective groups.

Phi Beta Lambda, Cowley's student business organization, and the CC Singers, the vocal music show choir, are selling items related to Valentine's Day.

PBL students are selling Candygrams for $1 each. It is a tradition that dates back several years. For $1, students will wrap up Valentine candy, attach a homemade card, and deliver the package. Persons interested in purchasing Candygrams should contact any PBL member or club sponsor Beverly Grunder at 441-5267. The Candygrams will be delivered on Feb. 13. Funds raised go toward paying student expenses to attend state and national PBL conferences.

The CC Singers are selling singing Valengrams for $20 each. The group will sing one song, deliver a carnation, and a homemade card for $20. It will sing one additional song for $5 more. Persons interested in purchasing a singing Valengram should contact the Humanities Office at 441-5252 or 441-5223. Songs will be delivered from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Feb. 13. The group will travel to locations in and around Arkansas City and Winfield only.

Song choices: "Let Me Call You Sweetheart," "I Love You Truly," "Hooked On a Feeling," "I'll Be There," "I Can't Help Falling in Love With You," "Close To You," "Happy Together," "Sincerely," (female CC Singers only), and "The Longest Time," (male CC Singers only).

Like the PBL Candygrams, the CC Singers have been selling singing Valengrams for many years. Proceeds from the sale of singing Valengrams will go toward paying student expenses to tour in the spring.
