Haliburton, James crowned Cowley Homecoming Queen and King
She was from the 1960s; he was representing the 1980s. Together, they were crowned Homecoming Queen and King Saturday night at Cowley County Community College.

Ebony Haliburton and Trent James were crowned during halftime of the men's basketball game Saturday night in W.S. Scott Auditorium/Dan Kahler Court. The crowning capped a week of activities that included, for the first time, online voting for the candidates.

Five decades - the 1950s, 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s - were represented by the 10 couples.

Haliburton, a sophomore transfer from the University of Kansas, is the daughter of Denise Dixon and Sylvester Eillis of Kansas City, Kan. She is a liberal arts major who also is a member of the Lady Tiger basketball team. She also is involved in Campus Christian Fellowship and the Cowley Gospel Choir. She is the president of the gospel choir and is the fifth-leading rebounder in National Junior College Athletic Association Division I. After Cowley, Haliburton plans to go into the ministry working with youth, play basketball at a Division I school, and work in advertising and marketing.

James, a sophomore from Edmond, Okla., and the son of Bill and Leslie James and Becky and Chris Hangen of Oklahoma City. He is majoring in business, and is a member of the Tiger tennis team and Campus Christian Fellowship. He also is Student Government Association vice president, was voted most improved tennis player, and won "best eyes" in the 2003 Mr. CinderFella pageant.

Other Homecoming Queen candidates are Linzee Roby, Rachel Harper, Megan Whitehead and Sarah Area. Other Homecoming King candidates are Chris Craft, Ryan Julius, Jake Conley, and Josephat Boit.
