Beachwear, talent, eveningwear, it's Mr. CinderFella time again

One of the most anticipated evenings of the academic calendar at Cowley County Community College is rapidly approaching.

The 16th Annual Mr. CinderFella Pageant will take place at 7:30 p.m. May 6 in the Robert Brown Theatre inside the Brown Center on Cowley’s main campus in Arkansas City. Tickets are $3 per person and may be purchased from the Humanities Office, lower level Brown Center, or at the door.

Beachwear, talent, eveningwear, it's Mr. CinderFella time again
Keeping with the tradition of Miss Kansas serving as emcee, Angelea Busby of Lenexa will take 17 Cowley male contestants through the evening.

The men will compete in beachwear/leisurewear, talent, and eveningwear categories. Last year’s Mr. CinderFella, Tim Frick, is expected to be there to crown the 2004 winner.

The 17 contestants are comprised of three sophomores who competed last year, eight new sophomores, and six freshmen.

The contestants:

James Akers, Douglass; Blake Chamberlain, Conway Springs; Alex Elam, Wichita; Derrick Fagg, Arkansas City; Thomas Felts, Winfield; Mark Gubichuk, Arkansas City; Bryan Harvel, Wichita; Colgan James, Arkansas City; Trent James, Deer Creek, Okla.; Tanner Littrell, Arkansas City; Mark Mathew, Spring Hill; Jasper McDuffus, Pompano Beach, Fla.; Chris McGrew, Arkansas City; Jonathan Paxson, Argonia; Andrew Penrose, Arkansas City; Ty Richardson, Arkansas City; and Devin Woods, Manhattan.

Busby, 22, is a graduate of Shawnee Mission West High School. She is a senior at the University of Kansas majoring in journalism. Depression awareness is the issue she chose for her platform after her mother nearly died five years ago from the disease.

At KU, Busby was the feature twirler for the Marching Jayhawks. She was a member of the Order of Omega Honor Society, the Golden Key International Honor Society, the Public Relations Student Society of America, and was a Greek Ambassador.
