College seniors program to hold American Cancer Society benefit

Scrapbooking is a popular hobby for many people, young and old.

Cowley College is offering people the chance to get together and scrapbook and help out the American Cancer Society.

The college’s Institute of Lifetime Learning Relay for Life Team is sponsoring “Crop for Cancer,” scheduled from 4-10 p.m. March 11 and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. March 12 at the college’s Winfield Center, 1406 E. Eighth St. The cost is $15 per day or $25 for both days. All proceeds will go toward the American Cancer Society.

The event is open to those experienced at scrapbooking as well as those just getting started. There will be cropping space, gift bags, door prizes, displays, and hands-on demonstrations during the event. Snacks also will be provided. Each participant is responsible for his own meal.

Space is limited. Enrollment deadline is March 8. Walk-ins will be accepted on a space-available basis.

“We’re hoping that a lot of people can join us because it’s going to be a fun couple of days scrapbooking,” said Margaret Neal, coordinator of the Institute of Lifetime Learning. “Plus, we’re raising funds for cancer research.”

Persons wishing more information should contact Neal at (620) 441-5286 or by e-mail: neal@cowley.edu.

Checks should be made payable to American Cancer Society.
