Cowley instructor to appear on radio, television
Mike Everhart, an adjunct instructor at Cowley College, can be heard discussing his book “Oceans of Kansas – A Natural History of the Western Interior Sea", with Mark Lynch, host of "Inquiry" on WICN, New England's Jazz and Folk Station 90.5 FM Sunday at 8:30 p.m., and also seen discussing the book with KAKE-TV Channel 10’s Mike Euen at 11:45 a.m. Tuesday.
You can connect to Sunday night’s radio broadcast online by visiting Everhart’s Oceans of Kansas web site at www.oceansofkansas.com.
The Indiana University Press published Everhart’s book “Oceans of Kansas - A Natural History of the Western Interior Sea” in June of 2005. It is mostly about paleontology, and more specifically, the fossils from the Late Cretaceous Smoky Hill Chalk in western Kansas, but also includes a lot of the history, blunders, and honest mistakes committed by the famous and not-so-famous paleontologists who were the first to collect and describe Kansas fossils in the 1870s.
