Talent reigns at Tyger Tawk Talent/No Talent Show
For the second year in a row, the Tyger Tawk Talent/No Talent Show held at Cowley College's Robert Brown Theatre on Thursday, was a huge success.
The event, which cost $2 to attend, or $1 and a canned food item, raised food for the community food drive. The money it cost to enter went toward the prize money for the winners of the different contests.
Tom Mason, Cowley director of communications, emceed the event along with humanities department instructor Marlys Cervantes, and humanities department secretary Jacque Ramirez.
Mason was impressed with the talent that was on display.
"The talent was way above par," Mason said. "If it continues like this we will just have to call it the talent show."
Roughly 200 people attended the show.
"I thought it was a phenomenal success, and a lot of fun," Mason said.
The Tyger Tawk Communications Club along with the ACT One Drama Club will now prepare to help put on Pinocchio, Dec. 6 in the Robert Brown Theatre.
Here are winners from the Tyger Tawk Talent/No Talent Show:
Best band - Hedge, first place, $50.
Vocal solos - Sarah Coury, first place, $25; Kelsey Creed, second place, $15; Janae Reber, tie for third, $10; Rebecca McGary, tie for third, $10.
Variety acts - Larry Wahlen, first place, $20; C-Base Productions (Jared McGuire, Kyle Chamberland, Amanda Letti, Jaden Hedge), second place, $10.
Duets - Sarah Coury and Kelsey Creed, first place, $20.
