Cowley selects students to be ambassadors for next academic year

Twenty students have been selected to represent Cowley College’s Arkansas City campus as Student Ambassadors for the 2007-2008 academic year.

Ben Schears, director of admissions, said trimming the list of students to 20 from the 81 who were nominated was not easy.

“It was a really tough job to narrow down the field of potential ambassadors,” Schears said. “All of the nominees really were outstanding, which is why staff and faculty nominated them. In the end, the students we ended up choosing just really jumped out at us during the interviews.”

Student Ambassadors must be full-time Cowley students with a cumulative 3.0 grade-point average or higher.

Ambassadors are required to work two hours per week in the Admissions Office, performing various tasks such as giving campus tours, making student ID’s, or making photocopies. They also are required to work special events such as New Student Orientation, Senior Day, Phone-a-Thon, Principal-Counselor Day, and Cowley’s College Planning Conference.

Students chosen for the 2007-2008 academic year. They are listed in alphabetical order with their high school and hometown (if different).
