Cowley earns high mark in Women’s Sports Foundation’s report

Addressing college sports participation levels from 1995-2005 and basing grades on the difference in percentages of female athletes to female undergraduates, the Women’s Sports Foundation’s report, “Who’s Playing College Sports?”, gave Cowley College one of its top grades.

Cowley was one of only three schools in the state of Kansas to earn an A-minus grade. Only Kansas State University and McPherson earned higher grades with an A.

The University of Kansas and Wichita State University got B-plus grades, while 13 Kansas schools were given F’s.

“This says a lot about our women’s athletic programs,” Cowley athletic director Tom Saia said. “Any time you are up there with KU, K-State, WSU and those kind of schools, that is positive.”

Saia is pleased with the success of all of his athletic programs.

“We have great balance here with our men and women’s programs,” Saia said. “I think the best is yet to come.”
