Cowley students help with Habitat for Humanity
Travis Delaney and Brian McClaskey
Students in Cowley College’s Principles of Sociology class recently did a service-learning project at Habitat for Humanity in Winfield.
Some students worked on building the storm shelter in the home by mixing and pouring concrete. The other students helped put chipboard on the roof and wrap the house in pink plastic wrap.
The students that participated were: Micah Archer, Amy Christensen, Travis Delaney, Brian McClaskey, Lindsey Pond and Anna Stevens.
While the students were participating they had the opportunity to hear about Habitat for Humanity in general and about the Winfield project in particular.
This is the 16th Habitat for Humanity House being built in Winfield. The students also got the opportunity to meet the family that the house is being built for.
The Principles of Sociology course is taught by Michelle Knoles.
