Application Deadlines for PhD Applicants

The ISE department strongly encourages applicants to complete their applications by the deadlines described below:

Fall Application Deadline
Spring Application Deadline

All online applications due by December 5

Note: There are no doctoral admits for the summer semester; apply for the next semester

All online applications due by August 31

Note: Spring admissions are very rare, as they conflict with the natural sequence of classes first-year students must take.

Meeting the online application deadline allows the department to begin establishing department application files in a timely and efficient manner. We recommend supporting documents be sent on time, as applications will only be reviewed when they have been determined to be complete. For this reason, late or incomplete applications might not receive full consideration for funding.

Application Procedure

Below is the application procedure and checklist for the ISE doctoral program. Remember that the application process involves two offices, the UF Office of Admissions and the department of industrial and systems engineering.

Please read the following instructions carefully before applying. Failure to do so could delay or negatively impact your evaluation.

DO NOT SEND PHYSICAL MAILED DOCUMENTS TO UF-ISE

Step 1) Complete your online application

Please Click here to begin or continue your online application and submit your non-refundable $30 application fee.

Step 2) Upload supporting documents

Please upload the following supporting documents to your online application. These must be submitted for your application to be complete in the ISE department:

  • Statement of purpose
  • Resume/Curriculum vitae
  • Transcripts for all colleges attended
  • 3 letters of recommendation
    • Enter email contact information for your recommenders on your online application and they will be notified and asked to submit their recommendation letters.

**If your recommenders have difficulty submitting their recommendations through the online system, they can email their recommendations directly to the UF-ISE at isegradapps@ise.ufl.edu. **

Step 3) Report official scores

Report your official GRE and TOEFL/IELTS scores (if applicable) electronically using institutional code 5812. A department code is not necessary.

  • For a list of those exempt from submitting TOEFL scores, please see the English Language Testing Exemptions.
  • If your name on your ETS scorecard does not EXACTLY match your name on your UF application, your scores may not be posted. Please contact the Office of Admissions if there are any discrepancies between the names.

Step 4) Send confirmation email

Once you have submitted your application, please send a confirmation email to isegradapps@ise.ufl.edu regarding your application submission.

** If for any reason you are unable to upload documents to the online application, please email them directly to: isegradapps@ise.ufl.edu.**

Step 5) Mail documents to admissions

Please mail the following documents to the UF Office of Admissions in order for your application to be fully complete:

  • ALL OFFICIAL college transcripts
  • Copy of your degree certification/diploma
The mailing address to the UF Office of Admissions is:
Office of Admissions – University of Florida
201 Criser Hall – PO Box 114000
Gainesville, FL 32611-4000

For questions regarding the submission of the above items and/or the policy of UF Admissions regarding transmission of transcripts, GRE and TOEFL (if applicable), contact the UF-Office of Admissions at (352) 392-1465, or via email at webrequests@admissions.ufl.edu.

Finally, you are all set!

After you complete the above steps and mail necessary documents to the UF Office of Admissions, the ISE department will process your application, and then forward it to the ISE Graduate Student Selection Committee for review and consideration.

Failure to complete a step above may delay or negatively impact your evaluation and application process

For any further questions regarding admissions policies and procedures, please contact the ISE academic advising representative at isegradapps@ise.ufl.edu.
