Summer Externship Program

Students selected for summer externships work with a state, federal or local government agency or a public interest group on environmental or land use law issues under the supervision of an attorney and a faculty advisor.  Students can receive up to 6 hours of academic credit for an externship. Externships are carefully designed to ensure the students a wide variety of work experiences and academic components.  For more information on how to apply for externships, please visit the general Externships site.

“During my externship at the Department of the Interior (DOI) in Washington, DC, I participated in meetings with agency clients, drafted sections of relevant briefs, participated in moot arguments with the Department of Justice, and was part of litigation teams for complex water law and land management cases. It was an invaluable experience and helped me develop negotiation and counseling skills, as well as building my knowledge of environmental & administrative law. ”
