BLSA Mock Trial Competition UF BLSA members traveled to the South Regional BLSA Convention in Columbia, S.C., and participated in the Mock Trial competition Jan. 24. The case for the trial competition was about a drug traficking scheme. The main issue was whether or not both the passenger and the driver were aware of the large quantity of drugs that were in the truck. Two members of the team, Karen Derby and Jonathan Blocker, argued for the prosecution, while their fellow team members, Wayne Atkinson and Kailey Evans, argued for the defense. Both teams presented an excellent case, and though they did not win the competition, they gained invaluable experience and look forward to participating in the conpetition again next year. BLSA wishes to thank the law firm of Ruden McClosky for providing support for this competition.
