Tax Exempt

As a non-profit educational organization, Northeastern University qualifies for Federal tax-exempt status under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. This means that Northeastern is exempt from paying Massachusetts state sales tax on the goods and services it purchases. Additionally, Northeastern has sales tax exemptions in many other (but not all) states.  Before making a purchase, be sure to mention Northeastern’s tax-exempt status to your vendor as this can result in significant savings. Please refer to the forms listed on the right-hand of this page, which may be required by your vendor. If you are making a purchase from a state that is not listed, please contact the Tax Manager, Gary Menin x7503, for further guidance.
