The Barnett institute of Chemical and Biological Analysis

Research

The Barnett Institute develops new instrumentation and analytical methods to address emerging needs in biomedical research and biopharmaceutical development. This development occurs in tandem with basic and clinical research programs, as well as industrial applications.

The Institute brings together a large interdisciplinary staff of 50 research scientists and students, working together in a highly collaborative environment organized under the 7 tenured faculty fellows.  Their work is described in detail in our Research Groups Section>>

The laboratories work together to share and apply a wide range of expertise, in mainstream analytical methods such as mass spectrometry and separations science; in supporting fields such as biophysics, computer science, and bioinformatics; as well as in the biomedical applications including glycomics, bio- and synthetic chemistry, cancer biology, protein structure and dynamics, and systems biology.
