Welcome from Dean Fulmer
Dear Bouvé Community:
As Dean of Bouvé, I am reminded daily of the remarkable energy and discovery that takes place every day in our classrooms, laboratories, and even unexpected encounters! Our College is thriving: as we welcome 23 new faculty members, over 330 undergraduate students, and 625 graduate students, this promises to be a year of tremendous potential, growth and fulfillment.
Our students are exceptionally bright, highly motivated, and eager to be a part of our mission, and I know our alumni are watching to ensure their legacy is honored and enriched every year. Bouve’s world-class faculty is leading national conversations in science, practice, and policy that will shape healthcare into the future. I ’m inspired by their tireless energy and effort to make Bouvé and Northeastern a place where students are supported, challenged, and embraced as future colleagues and where faculty can succeed and have high impact. Under President Joseph Aoun’s visionary leadership, Bouvé is making major strides in advancing health nationally and globally.
Save the date! On November 3, 2012, we will be celebrating the 50th anniversary our fabulous School of Pharmacy. This marks 50 years of pharmacy education at Northeastern University, and a total of 85 years of rich history with our predecessor institutions. We look forward to seeing you then.
At Bouvé, the themes that knit our interprofessional College together in a very special way include drug discovery, delivery and diagnostics, urban population health, self-care/self-management, and healthy aging. The interprofessional education collaborative, sponsored by the American Association of Colleges of Nursing, the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine, the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy, the American Dental Education Association, the Association of Medical Colleges and the Association of Schools of Public Health, has made it clear that interprofessional practice is the key to safe, high-quality, and accessible patient-centered care. I am pleased to announce that Professor Shan Mohammed has agreed to lead our interprofessional education initiative at Bouvé and has already developed an exciting agenda for the year.
As we enter a presidential election year, we know that there are profound discussions underway related to health, health care, and health policy. Our exceptional Bouvé community is at the ready to generate the science and policy that will underpin key decisions going forward.
