One Million Facebook Likes Gains English Professor National Attention

Assistant Professor of English Ryan Cordell had no idea what he was in for when he agreed to his daughters' challenge - they could get a new puppy if their photo received one million 'likes' on Facebook. Cordell, a Digital Humanist and avid social media user, says he expected a few thousand 'likes', tops. In fact, the profile photo on their page " twosistersandapuppy' hit one million 'likes' in about six hours and Cordell and his family have become an overnight national media story. The next morning, the Cordell family's social media success was covered by Mashable, the Huffington Post, and Good Morning America (clip shown below). Within hours of the news breaking, the family of seven was on its way to Times Square to appear live on Good Morning America.
