Incoming Freshman Scholarships

Allston-Brighton Community Scholarship (Full Tuition)

Eligibility Criteria
SAT score of 1100; top 20 percent of high school class; demonstrated concern for family affairs.

Award Amount
One scholarship awarded annually. Full tuition.

Renewable?
No.

Application Deadline
Do not need to apply for financial aid.

Awarded by a committee from Allston-Brighton.

Ashland Community Scholarship And Brookline Community Scholarship (Half Tuition)

Eligibility Criteria
Top 20 percent of high school class, combined SAT score of 1200.

Award Amount
Two one-half tuition scholarships awarded annually.

Renewable?
Yes (must maintain 3.0 cumulative GPA)

Application Deadline
Admissions deadline, January 1.

General Information
Candidates are selected by high school officials. The scholarship is not based on need. As a general rule, the scholarship is awarded for 8 academic terms.

Balfour Academy Scholarship (Full Tuition, Room and Board)

Eligibility Criteria
Balfour Academy graduates.

Award Amount
Full tuition, room and board.

Renewable?
Yes, based on satisfactory academic progress and full-time status.

Application Deadline
Nomination deadline is March 1.

General Information
The recipients of this scholarship enroll in the Balfour Academy program by the seventh grade and study at Northeastern every summer until their senior year. If accepted to Northeastern, students are eligible to apply for the scholarship.

Boston Housing Authority (Full Tuition)

Eligibility Criteria
Entering freshmen or transfer students who are residents of a BHA housing development and have been admitted through the normal admission process will be considered. Students MUST submit a letter verifying residence in a BHA Housing Development.

Award Amount
Full tuition.

Renewable?
Yes (must maintain 2.5 cumulative GPA).

Application Deadline
Admission deadline: January 15; FAFSA and Profile deadline: February 15.

General Information
Students must become part of the program during their first year at Northeastern and file for financial aid by the stated deadline every year. Be aware of entrance date for transfer students as it determines the award entitlement. The Admissions Office identifies eligible applicants. As a general rule, the scholarship is awarded to incoming freshmen for 8 academic terms.

Connections Scholarship (Partial Tuition)

Eligibility Criteria
Awarded to female engineering students selected by the College of Engineering based on SAT score, high school grades, and rank in class. Must be continuously enrolled in the College of Engineering.

Award Amount
$7,500 - $20,000

Renewable?
Yes (must maintain 3.0 cumulative GPA).

Application Deadline
Admissions application should be submitted well before the January 15 deadline for regular applications. No need to apply for financial aid.

General Information
High school graduates must apply and be accepted by Northeastern to start in the fall. As a general rule, the scholarship is awarded for 8 academic terms.

Legacy Scholarship (Partial Tuition)

Eligibility Criteria
Outstanding high school seniors interested in majoring in engineering.

Award Amount
$25,000 ($6,250 freshman year, $3,125 for six additional semesters)

Renewable?
Yes, for up to four additional years (must maintain 3.0 cumulative GPA).

Application Deadline
Admission application should be submitted well before the January 15 deadline for regular applications. No need to apply for financial aid.

General Information
Recommendations are made by the College of Engineering. Scholarships are funded by graduates or friends of the College of Engineering. They are not portable; students who transfer out of the College of Engineering will lose the scholarship.

ROTC Scholarship (Full Tuition)

Eligibilty Criteria
Seventeen years of age or older; U.S. citizen; 920 SAT; medically and administratively qualified.

Award Amount
Full tuition, fees, and a merit scholarship worth 20% of tuition. Cadets also receive tax-free monthly stipends ranging from $300-$500, depending on year, and $1,200 per year for books.

Application Deadline
There is no application deadline.
