Policies / Procedures

Rights & Responsibilities: Federal, state, and institutional resources form a partnership with your own commitment to meet your educational costs. As a student financial aid recipient and partner in this relationship you have a number of responsibilities and rights.

Code of Conduct: The Office of Student Financial Services works to ensure its employees adhere to the highest ethical behavior and professional practices.

Satisfactory Academic Progress: The measure of progress toward the completion of a course of study according to the standards of Northeastern University and required Federal regulations.

Changes in Financial Circumstances: We welcome the opportunity to discuss a substantial change in your family's status since filing the FAFSA and PROFILE.

Cash Release Requests: If your financial aid and loan funds total an amount that is greater than billed costs, after all university charges have been paid you will be able to access the remaining credit balance in a cash release.

Title IV Credit Authorizations: You have a Title IV credit balance if your federal financial aid exceeds your charges for tuition, fees, and University housing and meal plans for a term.

Tax Credits and Deductions: There are a number of tax advantages related to educational expenses.

Withdrawal/Leave of Absence: If you are receiving federal financial aid and withdraw or take a leave of absence from the University, you may be subject to the federal Return of Title IV Aid and state financial aid return policies.
