Freshmen from all over the world gathered in Matthews Arena to celebrate the start of the new academic year at the President’s Convocation. President Aoun and others urged them to experience the world, stand up against injustices, celebrate differences, and become robot-proof.
Charn McAllister enrolled at West Point in July 2001, just two months before 9/11. During a tour of duty in Iraq, a phone call from his wife changed his professional ambitions. Now, nearly a decade after that call, he’s a newly appointed faculty member in the D’Amore-McKim School of Business.
This summer, a group of Northeastern students explored Chile’s Atacama Desert on scales large and small—from photographing the picturesque landscapes, to searching for tiny bacteria to aid the discovery of new antibiotics—as part of a pioneering Dialogue of Civilizations program.
