The university community came together to honor the service and sacrifice of veterans and servicemembers at its annual Veterans Day ceremony. President Aoun also announced a $1 million gift from the Dolce family to support Northeastern’s Center for the Advancement of Veterans and Servicemembers that he said would ensure it “will remain a vibrant center forever.”
At the State of the University, President Aoun and other university leaders and students delivered remarks from locations across the country and abroad in a fresh new format for the annual event that underscored Northeastern’s foundational strengths: global, diverse, innovative, entrepreneurial, and experiential.
Danielle Murad Waiss returned to campus this fall invigorated—and a tad exhausted—following a year’s worth of global experiences across Europe and the Middle East. “My time abroad has really enriched my academics, as I was able to gain many different perspectives on the world today,” she said.
More than 100,000 individuals and over 3,800 organizations made gifts to Empower, the university’s historic fundraising campaign that concluded this week. Northeastern revealed the final total at an event that celebrated the campaign’s success and highlighted the ways it is shaping the university’s future.
