Northeastern is launching a first-of-its-kind initiative to introduce the successful experiential learning model to the K-12 education system. Beginning this month, the university will convene K-12 educators from across North America to work alongside Northeastern faculty in a yearlong innovation incubator for experiential education.
Aneri Pattani, AMD’17, recently wrapped up a weeklong reporting trip in Liberia with New York Times Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Nicholas Kristof. “I see journalism as a way to learn more every day and try to work on my own ignorance and understand the different ways people live,” she says. “In a lot of ways that’s what I took away from this trip, but on an international scale.”
With three co-ops, a hand in designing software for Boston Public Housing, and several campus ambassadorships under his belt, Tevin Otieno squeezed the most out of his time at Northeastern. Now he’s looking forward to taking his entrepreneurial spirit back home to Nairobi to start a company to bolster tech literacy there.
