Service-Learning Placements in Costa Rica

With the help of ICDS, each N.U.in participant is placed at a different Service-Learning site based  on his or her interests. Students have a service requirement that must be completed before the last day of The Global Experience course. This is a major component of the course and is often the central topic of course discussions and blog assignments. Students visit the Service-Learning sites to which they are assigned on a weekly basis. This schedule enables students to see a different side of the Costa Rican culture, build relationships with the organizations, and engage  in meaningful work, while allowing each student to complete the service requirement. In order to place students into appropriate sites, students are asked to complete a survey prior to arriving in San José.
