Most participants with US passports DO NOT have to apply for a Greek visa. However, if participants have traveled or plan to travel within the Schengen region in the 6 months previous to the start of the Fall 2014 Semester, or plan to stay in this region beyond the program end-date, they WILL NEED a visa and should contact their local Greek Consulate for further information. (The Schengen region is different from the European Union and includes the following countries: Greece, Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland.)

If participants do find that they will need a visa, please know that the process to obtain a Schengen visa is complex, involves a large time commitment, and must be completed well before departure. For more details, please contact the Greek Consulate in your area.

Visa Information for International Students

All participants need a passport. Those who do not already have a passport should apply for one as soon as possible. US Citizens can find more information at the US Department of State passport website. Passports must be valid for at least six months beyond the student's scheduled program end date.

Passports that are due to expire on or before June 13, 2015 should be renewed now.
