Visas & Passports
Participants who hold a US passport do not need to apply for a student visa to study in Ireland. Participants must register with the Garda National Immigration Bureau (GNIB) within a month of entering Ireland. More details on registration can be found below, on the GNIB website, and at the on-site orientation in Dublin.
Registering with the Garda National Immigration Bureau (GNIB)
All participants (except E.U. citizens) must register with the Garda National Immigration Bureau (GNIB) within the first month of entering Ireland and will be responsible for the following:
Paying a €300 registration fee
- Providing evidence of 2,000 Euros of funds (€500 for each month of their program) available to support themselves, by means of a bank statement not older than 30 days.
All N.U.in participants will need a passport. Those who do not already have a passport should apply for one as soon as possible. US Citizens can find more information at the US Department of State passport website. Passports must be valid for at least six months beyond the student's scheduled program end date. Passports that are due to expire on or before June 20, 2014 should be renewed now.
