OPEN

Presentations

OPEN offers interactive and informative customized presentations for classes, student organizations, athletic teams, residence hall events, staff and/or faculty, and campus-wide programs.

We will do our best to accommodate all requests, however may be limited by staffing or scheduling conflicts. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us at open@neu.edu or 617-373-4459.

What is OPEN's approach to presentations and programs?

OPEN's focus is on providing students with information from a non-judgmental approach, presentations do not tell students what they 'should' do, but rather gives them information so they can make informed decisions about alcohol and drugs for themselves.

Presentations incorporate straightforward information, facts, instant feedback, true or false for common alcohol and drug questions, normalizing data, and humor to discuss alcohol and drugs openly, honestly, and answer any questions.

"Thanks so much for your presentation, it was definitely one of the better alcohol and drug presentations I have seen. The fact that it was interactive made it less like a lecture from authority and more like we were learning for ourselves. Answering questions kept me listening the whole time-which at the end of the day can be difficult with any subject! So thanks again!"

How many people can be at a presentation or program?

Programs that utilize 'clickers' (PRS remotes) can be for up to 100 participants. Programs that do not have clickers (or if you don't need to have one clicker per person) can be for as many people as you want!

Some tips to 'enjoy responsibly'

"We really appreciated your presentation, it was a lot of fun. We found ourselves to be very enlightened even for a group of guys who seem to 'enjoy' college more than the average student." -Brothers of an NU fraternity

NEW! The Intoxiclock: an interactive touch screen program that allows you to enter your weight, sex, number of drinks consumed, and time spent drinking. The intoxiclock then calculates your personal Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC)! The two added benefits are that it will tell you the exact time when your BAC will return to 0.0% and allows you to change the number of drinks and the amount of time spent drinking so you can see how different drinking patterns affect your BAC!
