What is your favorite part of Boston/thing to do in Boston?

My favorite thing to do in Boston is to explore the city. Most weekends, my friends and I will find an event, a restaurant, or just a cool place to hang out. After 2 semesters of doing just that, it seems that I keep learning of more and more exciting places to visit.

What’s your favorite NU event or activity?

For events, I will always show up to the dance parties at AfterHOURS. For activities, I participate in Ballroom Dance, No Limits Dance Crew, and Extreme Dodgeball. There is a club for practically every interest.

What is your hidden talent?

Popping and locking dance swag. I'll show you if you come to the dance party on the first night of Orientation!

Name: Casey Liston

Hometown: Winter Park, FL

Major: Health Science

What do you love about Northeastern?

I love Northeastern's emphasis on experiential learning! I always knew that I wanted to be able to integrate my education with research, volunteer, and employment experiences on campus and in the city. After only a few months here, Northeastern has already provided me with more opportunities than I can fit into my schedule!

What’s your favorite NU event or activity?

I like to stay involved on campus with the Northeastern Democrats! Thanks to our hard work, we've brought both Elizabeth Warren and Ed Markey to campus this year as a part of their US Senate campaigns.

What is your hidden talent?

Rapping! That's how I managed to get this job!

Name: Lena Tran

Hometown: Tampa, FL

Major: Pharmacy

What is your favorite part of Boston/thing to do in Boston?

Witnessing the seasons change! I love seeing the leaves fall and I finally got to see snow for the first time my fall semester.

What is your best Northeastern inside tip?

Use academic buildings such as Shillman or Behrakis to study in the evenings. They’re way less crowded than the library.

What’s your favorite NU event or activity?

Going to comedy shows and performances in Blackman. It’s always a new experience.

Name: Candice Quarella

Hometown: South Windsor, CT

Major: Health Science, Pre-Med Track

What do you love about Northeastern?

I love the wide range of experiences Northeastern provides us with- from being in the heart of Boston to the co-op program, the opportunities are endless.

What’s your favorite NU event or activity?

I'm primarily involved on campus through Peer Health Exchange. We meet every week and teach health workshops to Boston Public 9th graders.

Why do you want to be an Orientation Leader?

I'm excited to be an OL so I can share my love for Northeastern with incoming Freshmen!

Name: Jose Roman

Hometown: Derry, NH

Major: Pharmacy

What is your favorite part of Boston/thing to do in Boston?

The music and theatre scene in Boston is extremely underrated and AWESOME. I’m loading up on information for different shows and entertainment throughout Boston and plan to go to as many as possible over the summer and next year. When you look at the House of Blues, Paradise Rock Club, and all the Theatre Companies in Boston, there’s always something you can see!

What’s your favorite NU event or activity?

RELAY FOR LIFE in the Matthews Arena. The American Cancer Society raises money through these events where people create teams, raise as much money as they can through fundraisers and donations, and then on one night in early Spring all the teams meet up and walk around a track in Matthews Arena for 12 hours straight.  I was a Team Captain for a team of my group of friends and we all had a blast!  There’s also a really powerful ceremony at midnight commemorating all those who have been affected by/are fighting/have beaten cancer. Northeastern's Relay for Life was also the 7th largest Relay in the Northeast this past year!

What is your hidden talent?

I’m a wizard when it comes to making sandwiches.
