JAGUAR ALUMNI ASSOCIATION
First of all thank you to those who have remained in contact with the Army ROTC program here at the University of South Alabama. For those of you who haven’t please click here and fill out the information sheet so we can keep in touch.
Every great organization, whether civilian or military, has an active alumni organization. This is important for several reasons. First, it allows those who have succeeded to pass lessons and advice on to the new comers to that organization. Second, the alumni association allows those who have blazed the trail for the new comers to remain active in the organization, in whatever capacity they decide to be involved.
I see the USA ROTC Alumni Association to be an extension of the ROTC program. The Association should assist in the development of the current cadet as well as be a way to network and assist the graduates of our program regardless of class year.
In the future I hope to institute an “ROTC Day” where cadets will put on rappelling demonstrations, etc. Hopefully, this day will serve the program alumni as a time of reunion, over and above, the traditional Homecoming. I plan to publish and send out a newsletter every semester that will keep everyone abreast of what is going on in the Battalion. In the future, the programs alumni will be invited to the annual Dining In, Military Ball and each Commissioning ceremony. Granted, not everyone will be able to attend, but for those who can, these events promise the opportunity to foster and perpetuate our common bond to USA Army ROTC. As each new class gets commissioned, the bond grows with it.
I realize you all have lives and other priorities, but hopefully as our group grows, so will the opportunity to contribute to our present cadets. They are the future members of the association and the future leaders of our great Army. If you know of any other USA Army ROTC graduate or former cadre, please direct them to the web site so they can fill out the information sheet.
Take Care. Hope to hear from you soon.
