Chemistry Scholarships
Up to four scholarships of $1,500 each are awarded annually to sophomore and junior Chemistry majors. Recipients have continued support throughout their fourth year of studies provided a satisfactory level of academic performance is met and the availability of funds exists. This scholarship for students in Chemistry or College of Nursing is available to students who have completed a minimum of two semesters of study in Chemistry or Nursing with preference given to Chemistry students. The Michael S. Hanna Endowed Communication Scholarship's purpose is to encourage communication students at the University of South Alabama an opportunity to excel in their track of study by awarding a monetary scholarship. Applicants should meet the following criteria: (1) Hold junior/senior status with a declared major in Communication, (2) Have a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA, (3) Demonstrate financial need. Materials submitted with the application include the scholarship application, Family Education Rights and Privacy Act form, faculty letter of recommendation (1), professional/personal letter of recommendation (1), and a 750 word or less essay explaining the applicant's leadership, community and campus involvement, and career goals.John M. Up to two scholarships are awarded to college students who are interested in pursuing a career in journalism; those persons now employed in the journalism field who wish to further their studies by graduate or extended courses of instruction are also eligible. Established to support musical theatre students. At lease one scholarship of from $750 - $1,000 is awarded based upon interview and audition. Similar format GPA and recommendations required to those used for the Laidlaw Scholarship. One audition and application will allow student to be considered for either this or for both of the purely performance based scholarships listed here.Danny Conway Memorial Award
Carmen Conway and her daughter fund the award in honor of their son and brother. It provides $500-$800 to a junior or senior drama major, with emphasis in performance.Gerrells/Jackson Award

ARMY ROTC offers 2, 2.5, 3, 3.5 and 4 year scholarships for all majors. Our Department has an unlimited number of scholarships for qualified nursing majors. Scholarship applicants must be U.S. citizens, pass a physical examination and have at least a 19 ACT and 2.5 cumulative GPA. All of the scholarships pay full tuition and fees, a $350-$550 per month stipend and a $900 per year book allowance. Sixty percent of our scholarship recipients also receive a free dorm room. AIR FORCE ROTC offers 4, 3.5, 3, 2.5 and 2 year competitive scholarships in all majors, plus 3, 2.5, 2, and 1.5 year non-competitive scholarships for nursing majors. Scholarship amount of $15,000, $9,000, $3,000 and a few unlimited are available. Additionally, dorm scholarships, $750/year book allowance and $250-$400 monthly stipend is paid to contracted cadets.
